生物濾床用於水及廢水處理之膠體及界面現(xiàn)象之探討

 

     個人從事學(xué)術(shù)研究生涯之初,係以水環(huán)境界面化學(xué)為基礎(chǔ)初探學(xué)術(shù)殿堂,發(fā)展出兼顧學(xué)術(shù)及應(yīng)用之研究面向,包括水處理實(shí)務(wù) (如水處理混凝劑之製備及應(yīng)用)吸附氧化(如鋁鐵氧化物之吸附及催化氧化)及生物處理(如生物濾床反應(yīng)器之開發(fā))三面向。近10多年來,此三面向之研究層面隨不同時(shí)期或有消長,然主軸方向一直不變。隨著科技之發(fā)展,因應(yīng)奈米化及永續(xù)發(fā)展的趨勢,原三面向之研究主題亦於45年前轉(zhuǎn)化成高純度奈米混凝劑之製備及應(yīng)用奈米複合觸媒之製備及應(yīng)用及抗垢型生物薄膜反應(yīng)器(MBR)之研發(fā)為三主軸,並以自來水及工業(yè)廢水為應(yīng)用對象,分別以PhysicalChemical及Biological方法針對水質(zhì)處理問題進(jìn)行知識探索及技術(shù)研發(fā)工作,整體架構(gòu)如下

上述各研究主題成果簡述如下:

自來水(含海水淡化)之處理相關(guān)應(yīng)用

(1)   物理方法 
     個人在此方面之研究,近五年集中於以薄膜程序於自來水之應(yīng)用、智慧型混凝加藥監(jiān)控系統(tǒng)的研發(fā),及淨(jìng)水污泥資源化再利用,重要成果概述如下:

薄膜程序在自來水上之應(yīng)用 
     本研究主要協(xié)助自來水公司評估結(jié)合混凝/微過濾(MF)薄膜過濾技術(shù)回收淨(jìng)水場濾池反洗廢水之可行性,提出MF薄膜過濾回收淨(jìng)水場濾池反洗廢水之最適前處理混凝加藥策略。本項(xiàng)研究成果已發(fā)表於Water Sci. Technol. (2010)及Colloids and Surfaces A (2011),並成為自來水公司規(guī)劃淨(jìng)水場以薄膜過濾程序回收反沖洗廢水策略之重要參考依據(jù)。

智慧型混凝加藥監(jiān)控系統(tǒng) 
     本研究協(xié)助經(jīng)濟(jì)部水利署建構(gòu)一個具備即時(shí)監(jiān)控之淨(jìng)水場現(xiàn)代化操作典範(fàn),研究期間建造處理量高達(dá)100 CMD之可移動式模型廠,並利用類神經(jīng)網(wǎng)路(ANN)建立前饋加藥控制系統(tǒng),以及自行研發(fā)高靈敏性之回饋加藥系統(tǒng)(包括光纖膠羽偵測儀及膠羽影像色彩分析儀),進(jìn)行自動化混凝加藥監(jiān)控模式之長期測試,提供傳統(tǒng)淨(jìng)水場面臨原水水質(zhì)惡劣且多變下之最適淨(jìng)水操作模式,以降低淨(jìng)水操作成本。其中膠羽影像色彩分析技術(shù)正在申請中華民國專利,本研究成果曾獲得第二十八屆自來水研究發(fā)表會優(yōu)良論文獎。

淨(jìng)水污泥資源化再利用 
     淨(jìng)水污泥之調(diào)理及脫水為配合混凝研究所延伸之次領(lǐng)域,為與廢棄物資源化潮流同步,個人於8年前從污泥脫水處理研究轉(zhuǎn)換成污泥再利用,曾經(jīng)再利用之研究項(xiàng)目包括製磚(Water Sci. Technol., 2001)、輕質(zhì)骨材(J. Environ. Eng. ASCE, 2005)及水泥生料(Water Sci. Technol., 2004 ; Waste Management, 2008),本項(xiàng)研究成果成為經(jīng)濟(jì)部通案核準(zhǔn)淨(jìng)水污泥再利用為水泥生料之重要依據(jù)。

(2)   化學(xué)方法 
     個人於自來水混凝劑研發(fā)方面,主要以化學(xué)法製備高純度聚氯化鋁(PACl)混凝劑及其探討Al13混凝機(jī)制與其聚集動力模式的研究,重要成果概述如下:

高純度聚氯化鋁混凝劑之研發(fā)與應(yīng)用 
     以硫酸鈉及硝酸鋇純化一般的聚氯化鋁(PACl),製備出含60%及95% Al13以上的高純度聚氯化鋁混凝劑,並將其應(yīng)用於高濁水處理,可減少混凝劑的使用量及增加污泥的脫水性,該製造程序和現(xiàn)況相同,僅需調(diào)整操作參數(shù)即可獲得,沒有增加成本之處,故本項(xiàng)目研究成果已受到自來水公司重視,並規(guī)劃在新營水廠設(shè)廠製造外,亦受到中華化學(xué)公司之青睞,計(jì)劃量產(chǎn)高純度聚氯化鋁混凝劑,本研究成果已發(fā)表於Chemosphere (2008)及Water Research (2008, 2009)計(jì)四篇,且PACl聚鋁(Al13)含量之分析方法成為自來水公司採購PACl之重要依據(jù)。

(3)   生物方法 
     於海水淡化領(lǐng)域?yàn)橹饕槍5褂弥∧みM(jìn)行剖析並開發(fā)抗堵之RO膜改質(zhì)方法,相關(guān)研究成果如下:

海水淡化RO膜之生物阻塞 
     針對現(xiàn)有之臺灣本島暨離島海淡廠之RO膜進(jìn)行積垢分析,鑑定其生物阻塞原因並利用奈米銀等方法改質(zhì)RO膜以減緩生物阻塞。鑑定海水淡化系統(tǒng)中所存在之微生物種為Fe、Mg、Ca、Si等噬菌種,說明其與RO膜阻塞與管線鏽蝕具一定程度之影響。本研究成果已發(fā)表於Biofouling (2011)與Desalination (2010)。探討不同混凝機(jī)制下對超音波震盪薄膜清洗效果之影響,相關(guān)研究已發(fā)表於J. Environ. Eng. ASCE (2012)。發(fā)展奈米銀改質(zhì)RO膜,藉此降低生物性阻塞之潛勢。此研究為國際上首次將奈米銀披覆於海水淡化RO膜及薄膜間層(spacer)上之應(yīng)用。此奈米銀改質(zhì)RO膜結(jié)具良好之抗菌效果,並可有效減緩RO之通量衰減。本研究相關(guān)研究獲期刊編輯重視特予「快速刊登」於Water Research (2009)。

工業(yè)廢水處理之相關(guān)應(yīng)用:

(1)   物理方法

化學(xué)機(jī)械研磨(CMP)廢水之混凝及薄膜過濾處理 
     本項(xiàng)研究協(xié)助園區(qū)管理局研擬區(qū)內(nèi)工廠研磨廢水之處理及管制策略,並對研磨廢水之商業(yè)化處理技術(shù)包括化學(xué)混凝、電混凝、薄膜過濾作評估。 
     輔助園區(qū)處理CMP廢水之化學(xué)混凝技術(shù)已開發(fā)出一套加藥控制邏輯,並獲中華民國專利(第1262173號)。而電混凝部份之開發(fā)亦獲中華民國專利第1286998號,其研究成果發(fā)表於Colloids and Surfaces、Jour. Envir. Eng., ASCE及Ind. Eng. Chem. Res.,而薄膜配合混凝前處理之研究成果已發(fā)表於Water Sci. Technol.及Desalination。 
     成功結(jié)合cross-flow UF及dead-end MF之整合式薄膜過濾系統(tǒng)處理研磨廢水,有效提升回收研磨砥粒之濃度,並減少傳統(tǒng)化學(xué)混凝加藥處理產(chǎn)生之污泥量,降低園區(qū)研磨廢水之水回收成本,本項(xiàng)研究已獲得力晶半導(dǎo)體公司之重視,規(guī)劃在廠內(nèi)設(shè)置整合式薄膜過濾系統(tǒng)以處理研磨廢水及回收研磨砥粒。

(2)   化學(xué)方法

     本團(tuán)隊(duì)工業(yè)廢水應(yīng)用之化學(xué)方法主要可細(xì)分為新型可見光奈米觸媒複合材料及以電化學(xué)/光電化學(xué)為基礎(chǔ)之淨(jìng)水技術(shù)與電極濾膜系統(tǒng)之開發(fā),目的為開創(chuàng)新環(huán)保技術(shù)及解決現(xiàn)有水處理技術(shù)處理難處理污染物之問題。詳述如下:

新型可見光奈米觸媒核殼複合材料 
     此材料為結(jié)合奈米二氧化鈦與零價(jià)鐵,利用其物化特性處理環(huán)境有機(jī)污染物,並利用此複合材料產(chǎn)生標(biāo)準(zhǔn)電位與電子傳遞現(xiàn)象,改善傳統(tǒng)材料二氧化鈦再回覆現(xiàn)象與零價(jià)鐵表面鈍化區(qū)形成之缺點(diǎn),增進(jìn)觸媒材料之可利用性。 
     本研究已成功將中性奈米二氧化鈦結(jié)合零價(jià)鐵核殼複合觸媒進(jìn)行改質(zhì),並使其於可見光範(fàn)圍即可被激發(fā),其關(guān)鍵製備技術(shù)已獲得中華民國專利,可見光複合觸媒技術(shù)已於臺灣及美國申請相關(guān)專利。 
     有鑑於奈米顆粒無法有效回收再利用,本團(tuán)隊(duì)亦開發(fā)一新型態(tài)LED/可見光/TiO2-Fe0奈米觸媒自動再生與回收之pH-PLC系統(tǒng),且已完成模場規(guī)模之試驗(yàn),並取得最佳化操作條件與模場設(shè)計(jì)參數(shù)等。 
     相關(guān)研究中並探討腐植質(zhì)對於可見光/TiO2-Fe0奈米觸媒之影響與奈米顆粒聚集現(xiàn)象;目前此部分之成果已發(fā)表與投稿於Separation and Purification Technology (2007, 2010)及Science of Total Environment (2010),Applied Catalysis B: Environmental (2010)合計(jì)四篇

鑽石電極濾膜反應(yīng)系統(tǒng)與光電半導(dǎo)體濾膜淨(jìng)水技術(shù)之開發(fā) 
     本研究中所開發(fā)之新型電極材料為使用較低成本或高效能之原料(如二氧化鈦、人工鑽石、碳黑)進(jìn)行開發(fā)及改質(zhì),改善原有電極在水處理過程之電腐蝕之現(xiàn)象;此外,本研究室目前積極開發(fā)半導(dǎo)體電極濾膜,如:P型半導(dǎo)體濾膜及光電半導(dǎo)體濾膜,以結(jié)合電化學(xué)與濾膜系統(tǒng)使其可同時(shí)去除水中有機(jī)物及無機(jī)顆粒,改變大眾對薄膜僅可過濾應(yīng)用之思維。 
     以電泳沉積法(EPD)及溶膠凝膠法製備之TiO2/SS電極濾網(wǎng),結(jié)合可見光光電催化與電芬頓成一複合性光電芬頓反應(yīng)機(jī)制,有效提升系統(tǒng)電子利用效率而達(dá)成高效淨(jìng)水之目的,並發(fā)表於European Conference on Fluid Particle Separation (ECFPS) 2010。目前本項(xiàng)研究更於101年與永光化學(xué)股份有限公司合作,獲得經(jīng)濟(jì)部學(xué)界科專三年期計(jì)畫。 
     成功將摻硼鑽石(BDD)鍍膜披覆於高導(dǎo)電基材表面,成功改善傳統(tǒng)鑽石電極材料於實(shí)廠應(yīng)用之限制,並結(jié)合無機(jī)導(dǎo)電濾膜系統(tǒng)使以同時(shí)去除水中微量有機(jī)物及顆粒。目前此部分之初期成果已發(fā)表於第二十二屆(2010)環(huán)工年會-廢水處理技術(shù)研討會、Conference on Interface Against Pollution 2010及IWA World Water Congress 2012。並於民國99年向國科會提出專題研究計(jì)畫之申請,獲得連續(xù)三年之計(jì)畫補(bǔ)助。

(3)   生物方法 
     工業(yè)廢水應(yīng)用之生物方法主要為探討生物薄膜的積垢特性與成因,並利用薄膜改質(zhì)技術(shù),減緩薄膜積垢。

生物薄膜反應(yīng)器(MBR)之積垢探討與減緩 
     本主題主要探討不同污泥特性及厭氧(兼氧)MBR對薄膜積垢之影響,並以二氧化鈦改質(zhì)薄膜表面,減緩生物薄膜積垢之速率。相關(guān)成果績效概述如下:
利用設(shè)置選種槽(selector)及不同SRT操作,探討MBR於次臨界通量下不同污泥特性對薄膜積垢之影響。目前此成果已發(fā)表於Water Science and Technology (2008,2011)、Journal of Membrane Science (2011)、Desalination (2010)。

探討厭氧(兼氧)MBR處理光電業(yè)廢水之薄膜積垢特性及清洗策略 
     目前此成果已發(fā)表於Separation Science and Technology (2006)及IEEE Transaction on Semiconductor Manufacturing (2007)。開發(fā)新穎性二氧化鈦複合薄膜於可見光下,有效減緩薄膜積垢達(dá)50%。目前此部分之成果已發(fā)表於Jour. Envir. Eng., ASCE (2012),其關(guān)鍵製備技術(shù)亦已申請中華民國專利。

ASCE (2012)。發(fā)展奈米銀改質(zhì)RO膜,藉此降低生物性阻塞之潛勢。此研究為國際上首次將奈米銀披覆於海水淡化RO膜及薄膜間層(spacer)上之應(yīng)用。此奈米銀改質(zhì)RO膜結(jié)具良好之抗菌效果,並可有效減緩RO之通量衰減。本研究相關(guān)研究獲期刊編輯重視特予「快速刊登」於Water Research (2009)。

工業(yè)廢水處理之相關(guān)應(yīng)用:

(1)   物理方法

化學(xué)機(jī)械研磨(CMP)廢水之混凝及薄膜過濾處理 
     本項(xiàng)研究協(xié)助園區(qū)管理局研擬區(qū)內(nèi)工廠研磨廢水之處理及管制策略,並對研磨廢水之商業(yè)化處理技術(shù)包括化學(xué)混凝、電混凝、薄膜過濾作評估。 
     輔助園區(qū)處理CMP廢水之化學(xué)混凝技術(shù)已開發(fā)出一套加藥控制邏輯,並獲中華民國專利(第1262173號)。而電混凝部份之開發(fā)亦獲中華民國專利第1286998號,其研究成果發(fā)表於Colloids and Surfaces、Jour. Envir. Eng., ASCE及Ind. Eng. Chem. Res.,而薄膜配合混凝前處理之研究成果已發(fā)表於Water Sci. Technol.及Desalination。 
     成功結(jié)合cross-flow UF及dead-end MF之整合式薄膜過濾系統(tǒng)處理研磨廢水,有效提升回收研磨砥粒之濃度,並減少傳統(tǒng)化學(xué)混凝加藥處理產(chǎn)生之污泥量,降低園區(qū)研磨廢水之水回收成本,本項(xiàng)研究已獲得力晶半導(dǎo)體公司之重視,規(guī)劃在廠內(nèi)設(shè)置整合式薄膜過濾系統(tǒng)以處理研磨廢水及回收研磨砥粒。

(2)   化學(xué)方法

     本團(tuán)隊(duì)工業(yè)廢水應(yīng)用之化學(xué)方法主要可細(xì)分為新型可見光奈米觸媒複合材料及以電化學(xué)/光電化學(xué)為基礎(chǔ)之淨(jìng)水技術(shù)與電極濾膜系統(tǒng)之開發(fā),目的為開創(chuàng)新環(huán)保技術(shù)及解決現(xiàn)有水處理技術(shù)處理難處理污染物之問題。詳述如下:

新型可見光奈米觸媒核殼複合材料 
     此材料為結(jié)合奈米二氧化鈦與零價(jià)鐵,利用其物化特性處理環(huán)境有機(jī)污染物,並利用此複合材料產(chǎn)生標(biāo)準(zhǔn)電位與電子傳遞現(xiàn)象,改善傳統(tǒng)材料二氧化鈦再回覆現(xiàn)象與零價(jià)鐵表面鈍化區(qū)形成之缺點(diǎn),增進(jìn)觸媒材料之可利用性。 
     本研究已成功將中性奈米二氧化鈦結(jié)合零價(jià)鐵核殼複合觸媒進(jìn)行改質(zhì),並使其於可見光範(fàn)圍即可被激發(fā),其關(guān)鍵製備技術(shù)已獲得中華民國專利,可見光複合觸媒技術(shù)已於臺灣及美國申請相關(guān)專利。 
     有鑑於奈米顆粒無法有效回收再利用,本團(tuán)隊(duì)亦開發(fā)一新型態(tài)LED/可見光/TiO2-Fe0奈米觸媒自動再生與回收之pH-PLC系統(tǒng),且已完成模場規(guī)模之試驗(yàn),並取得最佳化操作條件與模場設(shè)計(jì)參數(shù)等。 
     相關(guān)研究中並探討腐植質(zhì)對於可見光/TiO2-Fe0奈米觸媒之影響與奈米顆粒聚集現(xiàn)象;目前此部分之成果已發(fā)表與投稿於Separation and Purification Technology (2007, 2010)及Science of Total Environment (2010),Applied Catalysis B: Environmental (2010)合計(jì)四篇

鑽石電極濾膜反應(yīng)系統(tǒng)與光電半導(dǎo)體濾膜淨(jìng)水技術(shù)之開發(fā) 
     本研究中所開發(fā)之新型電極材料為使用較低成本或高效能之原料(如二氧化鈦、人工鑽石、碳黑)進(jìn)行開發(fā)及改質(zhì),改善原有電極在水處理過程之電腐蝕之現(xiàn)象;此外,本研究室目前積極開發(fā)半導(dǎo)體電極濾膜,如:P型半導(dǎo)體濾膜及光電半導(dǎo)體濾膜,以結(jié)合電化學(xué)與濾膜系統(tǒng)使其可同時(shí)去除水中有機(jī)物及無機(jī)顆粒,改變大眾對薄膜僅可過濾應(yīng)用之思維。 
     以電泳沉積法(EPD)及溶膠凝膠法製備之TiO2/SS電極濾網(wǎng),結(jié)合可見光光電催化與電芬頓成一複合性光電芬頓反應(yīng)機(jī)制,有效提升系統(tǒng)電子利用效率而達(dá)成高效淨(jìng)水之目的,並發(fā)表於European Conference on Fluid Particle Separation (ECFPS) 2010。目前本項(xiàng)研究更於101年與永光化學(xué)股份有限公司合作,獲得經(jīng)濟(jì)部學(xué)界科專三年期計(jì)畫。 
     成功將摻硼鑽石(BDD)鍍膜披覆於高導(dǎo)電基材表面,成功改善傳統(tǒng)鑽石電極材料於實(shí)廠應(yīng)用之限制,並結(jié)合無機(jī)導(dǎo)電濾膜系統(tǒng)使以同時(shí)去除水中微量有機(jī)物及顆粒。目前此部分之初期成果已發(fā)表於第二十二屆(2010)環(huán)工年會-廢水處理技術(shù)研討會、Conference on Interface Against Pollution 2010及IWA World Water Congress 2012。並於民國99年向國科會提出專題研究計(jì)畫之申請,獲得連續(xù)三年之計(jì)畫補(bǔ)助。

(3)   生物方法 
     工業(yè)廢水應(yīng)用之生物方法主要為探討生物薄膜的積垢特性與成因,並利用薄膜改質(zhì)技術(shù),減緩薄膜積垢。

生物薄膜反應(yīng)器(MBR)之積垢探討與減緩 
     本主題主要探討不同污泥特性及厭氧(兼氧)MBR對薄膜積垢之影響,並以二氧化鈦改質(zhì)薄膜表面,減緩生物薄膜積垢之速率。相關(guān)成果績效概述如下:
利用設(shè)置選種槽(selector)及不同SRT操作,探討MBR於次臨界通量下不同污泥特性對薄膜積垢之影響。目前此成果已發(fā)表於Water Science and Technology (2008,2011)、Journal of Membrane Science (2011)、Desalination (2010)。

探討厭氧(兼氧)MBR處理光電業(yè)廢水之薄膜積垢特性及清洗策略 
     目前此成果已發(fā)表於Separation Science and Technology (2006)及IEEE Transaction on Semiconductor Manufacturing (2007)。開發(fā)新穎性二氧化鈦複合薄膜於可見光下,有效減緩薄膜積垢達(dá)50%。目前此部分之成果已發(fā)表於Jour. Envir. Eng., ASCE (2012),其關(guān)鍵製備技術(shù)亦已申請中華民國專利。

 Professor Huang earned his doctorate in Environmental Engineering from the University of Delaware, USA in 1990 and then soon joined the faculty of the Institute of Environmental Engineering at the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Hsinchu, Taiwan.

 Dr. Huang's research interests are primary concentrated on the interfacial phenomena of particles in the Environmental Engineering, from the views of physics, chemistry, and microbiology.

 Recently, Dr. Huang's most interesting and complex works include: (1) the coagulation and destabilization phenomena in submicro and nano-scale particulate suspension by using electro-coagulation and high-purity PACl

(2) Developments of antifouling strategies for membrane separation and RO membrane

(3) Application of biological filter and Membrane Biological Reactor (MBR) for water and wastewater treatment

 Ten Ph.D. students and over Seventy M.Sc. students have obtained their degrees under Dr. Huang’s supervision during his twenty year service in the NCTU. There are still five research associates, nine full-time Ph.D. students and ten full-time M.Sc. students in Dr Huang’s group in 2012.

 Dr. Huang serves as the Chair of Editorial Committee of Taiwan Water Association; and a member of the National Committee of Republic of China in International Water Association (IWA).

 Prof. Huang's publication has been extensive. In his twenty-two years of research career, he is the co-author of over 130 refereed papers in archival journal.
